「鷽替え」を知っていますか？？

“USOKAE”  is  a  custom  unique  to  Tenmangu,  Tenjinsha   where  they  enshrine  Tenjin( Sugawara  Michizane)  known  as  the  god  of  absolute  sincerity.  This  event  is  normally  held  on  January  25th,  what  is  called,  “the  first  Tenjin  day”  of  the  year.

「鷽替え」は至誠の神として崇められる天神様（菅原道真公）をお祀りする天満宮、天神社ならではの風習です。この行事はたいてい1/25、いわゆる「初天神」に催行されます。

“Usodori”  is  the  bird  that  is  called  “bullfinch”  in  foreign  countries.  This  bird  is  said  and  believed  to  be deeply  affiliated  with  Tenjin.

「鷽鳥」は海外ではbullfinchと呼ばれる鳥です。この鳥は天神様（菅原道真公）と深い縁があると言われ信じられております。

In  this  Shinto  ritual,  generally,  worshipers  get  wood  carvings  shaped  like  a  usodori  first,  and  then,  they  exchange  their  usodori  with  each  other,  singing  “Kaemasho!  Kaemasho!”.  By  doing  so,  some  say  that  they  can  change  the  lies  they  told  in  the  previous  year  for  the  truth  new  year,  others  say  that  they  can  really  bring  their  plans  they  used  to  talk  big  to  realization  new  year.

一般的にこの神事では、まず参拝者たちが鷽鳥をかたどった木彫りの授与品を手に入れ、それを参拝者同士で「替えましょう！替えましょう！」との掛け声と共に交換します。そうすることで我々は「前年についたウソを、新しい年ではマコトに替えることができる」とも、「これまで大げさにうそぶいていた計画や願いを、今年こそは実現することができる」ともいいます。

This  shrine  has  a  connection  to  “Change”.  We  start  “USOKAE”  in  our  own  way.

当宮は（映画「転校生」の男女入れ替わりの名シーンを撮影した場所として知られていることなどから）「替わること」には縁がございます。御袖天満宮独自の方法で「鷽替え」を始めます。
